How do I get the most guns in my safe by using Handgun Hangers?
ANSWERS:
How long are Rifle Rods?
From top to bottom Rifle Rods are 16” long. However, half of the Rifle Rod should be in the barrel of the gun. If you have too little of the Rifle Rod in the gun it will not be as secure.
Will Handgun Hangers support my heavy guns?
While we cannot promise Handgun Hangers will support all guns, we can say they hold most. If the rod sags too much, try bending it up so the weight of the gun levels it out. The length of the gun must be considered – the overall length of the gun should not exceed 10” or the door do your safe may not shut. For a very heavy gun consider our Back-Over Handgun Hangers. They will store the gun above the shelf and the handle can be rested on the shelf for extra support.
How does the Rifle Rods loop fabric attach to the shelf? What if I have a metal shelf?
First of all, make sure your shelf is a wood material – this is recommended. To attach the loop fabric included in Rifle Rods Starter Kits you will need a staple gun. Put the staples in every 4 inches from each other. Set staples with a hammer.
If you have a metal shelf, call us and we can make a special order for self-adhesive loop fabric. GSS recommends a wooden shelf so that the best loop fabric can be used and stapled on. If you are able to replace the metal shelf, that is preferred. It is best for the loop fabric to pull away from the shelf slightly to stay connected to the Rifle Rods.
Do Rifle Rods work with shotguns?
Yes, Rifle Rods will work with any size barrel .22 caliber and larger. We even have Rifle Rods that fit as small as .17 caliber – they are sold 2 in a pack. There will be extra space in the barrel, but that will not decrease the effectiveness of Rifle Rods.
How do I become a dealer of GSS products?
We do have a dealer program. Please email katie@storemoreguns.com for pricing and more information on how you can become a dealer. She will be happy to help you!
What do I do if I have varying lengths of guns, some very long and some very short?
Where there’s a will, there’s a way! Rifle Rods are great because they are versatile and can be arranged to accommodate YOUR gun collection – as eclectic as it may be. Make a plan on how to arrange your safe to its greatest capacity and you will be very happy with the results!
Remember, as a rule of thumb, the Rifle Rod should be in the barrel about half way depending on the weight of the gun. This poses a problem if you have varying lengths of guns. Here’s what you can do…
Keep overhead shelf as low as possible – 1-2 inches above longest gun. Group shorter guns together and boost up with something simple like an ammo can to bring it closer to the shelf. If most of your guns are the same height and only a couple longer guns, cut a gap in the shelf, if there isn’t one already, and put a piece of loop fabric the size of the gap on the ceiling above to run the Rifle Rods up through the shelf.
How do I get the most guns in my safe by using Rifle Rods?
Again, where there’s a will, there’s a way! Rifle Rods are great because they are versatile and can be arranged to accommodate YOUR gun collection – as eclectic as it may be. Make a plan on how to arrange your safe to its greatest capacity and you will be very happy with the results!
Here are some tips on how to really maximize your space…
Line guns with iron sights along the back wall of your safe. Fill in the middle and front row with scopes. The scopes will fit nicely in the gun behind it, making room for more guns!
How do I get the most guns in my safe by using Handgun Hangers?
There is a whole line of Handgun Hangers now! You can load up any shelf front and back with your handguns. The Over-Under Handgun Hangers will hang a gun below and above your shelf. The Back-Over HH and Back-Under HH will hang guns off of the back of your shelf above and below.
Something to keep in mind as you are loading up your shelf is that the majority of shelves in gun safes are not very strong. You may notice the shelf start to bow under the weight of the guns. Consider replacing the shelf with a stronger wooden shelf. This seems like a lot of work, but it will be worth it knowing that the shelf will support all of your guns and not collapse from all of the weight. That would be bad news!
